"In an English Country garden"

An ongoing programme of garden-themed concerts in heritage sites inspired by the Tercentenary of Capability Brown.

Singers Maria Arakie, Glenn Wilson and pianist Nicholas Bosworth will be touring this concert series and performing music exploring the beauty of the English Country Gardens. Concerts will include access to the site and gardens and are aimed at older people, including those living in care homes. Managers and owners of these glorious English country houses and gardens are generously hosting these events all at no charge to the older guests.

In addition to the Country Gardens, new themes in 2017 will include Enlightened Princesses (Celebrating Women of Influence) and Moonlight and Roses (Romantic Musical Memories)

For Autumn 2018 we have introduced an Edwardian theme to mark the Centenary of the Great War Armistice.

The spectacular Painted Hall at Chatsworth, recently restored to its former glory by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire - a rare privilege for Connaught Opera (Nicholas Bosworth, Maria Arakie and Glenn Wilson) to perform in this breathtaking setting.

The Enlightened Princesses programme was rapturously received by the audience of 90 elders from Derbyshire.

"Wow what a wonderful evening !! Venue I have never sat in although I have been to Chatsworth many times. The service of the staff, directions, buggy transport for less able to walk and the offer of refreshments and nibbles was wonderful. The voices and the content, no extra sound system, and the involvement with the artists with us was excellent. The voice of Glenn Wilson so close, when he moved into the audience I shall never forget.
I did not know how well known and important he is in other areas." (Stuart - Amber Valley CVS).

Our 48 attendees from Tibbs Dementia Foundation had a fantastic afternoon. The atmosphere was so relaxed and welcoming, the content of the concert perfect in length, content, pace and you are all such brilliant performers. For people with dementia and their families this was a real treat, an informal setting but the opportunity to experience quality music and a professional performance. We all felt very special and pampered.
It's a testimony to the Connaught Opera, that last year we brought I think 12- 15 people and this year most of those came back and told others in our organisation that they should come too and so our numbers more than trebled.
Thank you for the incredibly hard work you do to bring so much joy and happiness to so many
